As a guest, what were your biggest complaints about a wedding you’d attended?
I’ve seen quite a few articles discussing unhappy guest and was curious as to the things that made you unhappy. Or what were things that you would have liked to have seen done at a wedding you attended?
woooowww… I don’t even know how to chose a BEST ANSWER.. this was the best question/answer session that I’ve ever had on this site… THANK YOU EVERYONE. I will decide tomorrow when I feel like thinking who just wowed me. But they all are entertaining and informative
H-m-m-mmmmmmmmm
(1) Guest who think an open bar means “I have to get shi’p’ faced and make a fool of myself.”
(2) Bridal party members who talk ugly about guests where they can be overheard. They are usually overheard and feeling can be really hurt.
(3) Couples who use the reception as a means of bilking their guests out of more $$$$.
(4) Guests who think that since they haven’t seen the bride/groom since they were tiny means they can monopolize them for a long, long time. Or the guest who bends the bride/grooms ear about personal troubles or who’s cheating on who, getting a divorce etc……
(5) Guests who complain (usually quite loudly) about the food, music, the bride (or her family) the groom (or his family), the flowers, the bride/maids dress(es) etc…..
(6) Being seated with the obnoxious religious zealot because you’re the pastor & wife or being seated with the elderly, hard of hearing guests because you’re the pastor & wife…..(notice a pattern?)
(7) I once attended a wedding where the bride was out having pictures done and was almost an hour late for the wedding.
(8) I really hate seeing the bride and groom smush cake in each others faces.
I hate seeing older ladies sitting during the dancing. It would be so nice if the guys would ask them to dance once and a while. If they are nice enough to come to your wedding then ask some of the groomsmen and other guys (married and single) to offer to dance with them occasionally. You’d be surprised at how much they would appreciate the attention and the chance to dance. The bride who takes care of this will get rave reviews forever from these ladies instead of them being bored and looking for things to complain about.
If the wedding is going to be outside and the possibility of hot weather is there then water, fans (paper type is fine) and maybe a canopy should be provided. Guests suffering from heat stroke don’t make for happy guests 
Personally I’m not a fan of cash bars. I know that some people are………..to each his own. The weddings that have only cash bars and nothing else but water is tacky to the extreme!
I personally like to see a proper recieving line. Everyone gets a chance to speak to the bride and groom and their parents but can’t monopolize their time as the line needs to keep moving.
Like others have mentioned I like to hear a variety of music for a variety of dancing styles. It certainly shouldn’t be so loud that people can’t talk.
As far as favors go I think they can be left out entirely. The couple has already provided you with food and beverage and maybe dancing. that’s enough to say thank you for coming. A couple needn’t go into debt to provide a trinket for people to take home. If they really want a reminder of the wedding they can snag an extra napkin with the couples name and wedding date.
